High potential and gifted education

Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.

At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.

Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?

Recognising potential and developing talent

Our teachers find potential and nurture our students to be the best they can be.

Tailored lessons

Each student has different abilities. Teachers respond to each student’s ability by providing extra challenges and extension activities to keep learning exciting and engaging.

Rich opportunities and activities

Students can take part in opportunities to develop their talent in the arts, sport, leadership and more.

Opening doors to wider experiences

Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.

What is high potential and gifted education?

High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities

Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.

In our classroom
Our classrooms are designed to support all students, including those with high potential and gifted abilities. Teachers use a variety of teaching methods and provide extra challenges and opportunities to help these students learn at a pace and level that suits them. We focus on encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to ensure every child can reach their full potential.
Across our school
Across our school, we are committed to supporting all students, including those with high potential and gifted talents. We provide a range of programs and opportunities that challenge and engage these students both inside and outside the classroom. Our teachers work together to create a learning environment that encourages curiosity, problem-solving, and creativity, helping every child to grow and achieve their best.
Across NSW
Across NSW public schools, students with high potential and gifted abilities are supported through a variety of programs and learning opportunities especially with our feeder high school in Bellingen. Teachers use different strategies to provide extra challenges and encourage advanced thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. The aim is to make sure every child can learn in a way that suits them and reach their full potential, no matter which public school they attend.
